Inscryption is a rougelike dark deck-building game with escape room elements and dark secrets lurking behind every corner and in plain sight. You start the game off with a Card Battle, as your turn begins you will always start with 1 playable card, to end your turn you must ring the bell, on your next turn you have the option to draw a card from your deck or a card from the Squirrel deck. To win a battle you must tip your opponents scale by doing enough damage. If your own scale gets tipped then you lose, you have 2 lives in Act 1 and 1 life in every Bossfight, if you lose twice then you die and start over, every time you die you get to make a Deathcard which takes stats from cards in your deck. You progress through a Board-game style map, each space you move to will have either an Encounter or a Battle. Encounters can help you upgrade cards, get new cards and recieve items. At the end of every section of the map there is a Bossfight, there is a total of 4 Bossfights in Act 1. Upon completing a Bossfight you will get to choose a Rare card. You are able to stand up and explore the cabin around you, there are puzzles and secrets everywhere. The only way to truly progress through the game is by losing.
